Quick guide

What to put on a quotation

A quotation is an offer: here is the work and here is the price. A clear one wins the job and stops arguments about the price later.

  1. 1

    Your business name and contacts

Your name, phone, email and address, so the customer can accept the offer and ask questions.

  2. 2

    A quotation number

A running number such as QUO-001. When the customer says yes, you can match the invoice to it.

  3. 3

The date and how long the price is valid

Prices change. Say how long the offer stands, for example 30 days, so you are not held to an old price.

  4. 4

    Who the quotation is for

The customer's name and contacts, or the company name.

  5. 5

    Each item, quantity and price

List every item or service with the quantity and price. The more clear it is, the fewer questions you get.

  6. 6

    Discount, tax and the total

Show the discount and tax as separate lines, then the total the customer would pay.

  7. 7

    Terms

Say what you need from the customer: a deposit, delivery time, or what is not included. Short numbered lines are easy to read.

Questions about the free quotation maker

Is this quotation maker really free?+

Yes. Make as many quotations as you like within the daily limit and download each as a PDF. There is no sign-up. A small "Made with Kede" line sits at the bottom.

What is the difference between a quotation and an invoice?+

A quotation is an offer before the work: it says what you would charge. An invoice is a request for payment after the work or sale. A receipt proves the payment. You can make all three on Kede.

Do you save my quotation?+

No. It is made once, sent to you as a PDF, and then forgotten. To keep your quotations and turn them into invoices, start free in the Kede app.

Can I use my own currency?+

Yes. It starts with the currency of your country and you can change it.

Can I add terms and conditions?+

Yes. Type your terms in the notes box, one per line, and they are numbered on the quotation.

What happens when the customer says yes?+

In the Kede app, one tap turns the quotation into an invoice with the same items and prices, then you record the payment and send a receipt.
